Community Partner Application

 

Thank you for your interest in becoming an OCRFA Community Partner!

OCRFA’s Community Partners (formerly called Partner Members) are outstanding grassroots, local and national organizations around the country who share a commitment to eradicate ovarian cancer through research, advocacy, support, education and awareness. OCRFA is proud to work with our Community Partners in our fight against ovarian cancer.

The goal of our Community Partners initiative is to unite the ovarian cancer community into a national movement speaking with one voice through information sharing, strategic initiatives, and best practices.

OCRFA’s Commitment to its Community Partners:

  • OCRFA will proudly list your organization on our website as a resource
  • OCRFA will provide you with an OCRFA Community Partner website badge 
  • OCRFA will utilize your organization as a resource for local inquiries, and will make referrals 
  • OCRFA can offer you resource materials such as sample social media postings/images, letters to the editor, etc. 
  • OCRFA will host Community Partners webinars on topics of interest (e.g., fundraising, events, research) 
  •  OCRFA will keep Community Partners updated on important community issues, including research and advocacy news, with opportunities for action when appropriate
  • OCRFA is happy to review marketing or educational materials for scientific accuracy
  • OCRFA will keep Community Partners updated on research news, advocacy information, and other news with periodic e-newsletters
  • OCRFA will offer useful tools for Community Partners, such as:
    o Advocacy resources (coalition building, working with Congress, organizing in your community)
    o Volunteer tips, including recruiting volunteers and board members
    o Fundraising strategies
    o Advice on working with the media (social, storytelling, op-ed, letters to the editor)
    o Legal issues (nonprofit status, fiscal sponsorship, incorporation)
    o Community Partner forum to share ideas and best practices
    o Customizable advocacy Action Alerts which can be used for both local and federal government
    o Add your organization’s name automatically on appropriation request letters (with an option to opt-out each time)
  • OCRFA will offer you special Ovarian Cancer National Conference benefits:
    o Receive our agenda and speaker list in advance
    o Receive a discount on your organization’s exhibit booth in the exhibit hall
    o Join us at our Community Partners-only reception
    o Receive special recognition at your booth and on your name badge identifying your organization as an OCRFA Community Partner
  • OCRFA will provide your organization with OCRFA-branded educational and giveaway materials for your events (i.e., symptom cards.), depending on quantity needed and availability.

In exchange, OCRFA asks that our Community Partners commit to:

  • Joining us in advancing our shared mission of advocating for and supporting scientific research to end ovarian cancer, providing education about ovarian cancer, and providing and advocating for supportive services for women with ovarian cancer 
  • Disseminating scientifically accurate, evidence-based information about ovarian cancer, as well as services to women and their families affected by ovarian cancer that are based on best practices (send us your current materials and staff or members of our Scientific Advisory Committee to review and provide useful comments and feedback) 
  • Serving as local resources for referrals from OCRFA 
  • Contacting OCRFA with feedback, questions, comments and thoughts regarding improving the current state of ovarian cancer research, advocacy and education 
  • Utilizing the OCRFA Community Partners logo wherever your organization deems it be most effective, and in accordance with the OCRFA guidelines.

As an OCRFA Community Partner, your organization may wish to consider various OPPORTUNITIES to partner with OCRFA directly:

  • Apply for, or identify in your community, a treatment center or other organization that might be eligible to apply for, our Woman to Woman grant to establish a Woman to Woman program in your town 
  • Help us establish a Survivors Teaching Students® program in your area 
  • Become a Research Advocate or an Advocate Leader through your organization 
  • Help us identify community members that might wish to become a Research Advocate or Advocate Leader 
  • Host, participate and/or promote our local Ovarian Cycle rides which raise money for research 
  • Consider funding an OCRFA Community Partner research grant, either on your own or with other Community Partner organizations we match you with
  • Share your stories with us, and we might feature them in our Community Partners e-newsletter.
